COMPUTER ROOM/TAPE LIBRARY
The Computer Room/Tape Library provides operational
support for all centrally located computing systems
including:
- zOS
- zVM
- IMS
- DB2
- USCAN
- VIP
- OnDemand
- Content Manager
- TSO

Hardware for these systems include:
- Hitachi 9980V Storage Array Subsystem (50 TB RAID-5
Storage)
- Hitachi AMS storage Array Subsystem (120 TB RAID-5
Storage),
- 2 Cisco 9509 Fiber channel directors,
- 2 CISCO 9513 Fiber channel directors (to provide a
storage area network for up 432 network ports).
- (220) Infrastructure to hosted servers attached to
the Storage area network, network with UPS power.
- Operating systems supported: Solaris, Windows,
Linux, and Novell
- (1) IBM 3494 Automated Tape Library with (10)
3590-B1A Tape Drives (1000 cartridge capacity, 60
GB/cartridges compressed) on the native side and
(6) 3590-H1A Tape Drives (1200 cartridge capacity, up to
180 GB/cartridge compressed) on the virtual side.
- (1) SCANTRON Clarity
Computer room personnel operate twenty four hours a
day, seven days a week. They work with various groups on
such items as: data communication problems, backbone
problems, hardware and software problems. This group
also maintains the Tape Library which houses
approximately thirty thousand real and virtual tape
volumes with a mixture of IBM type tapes and cartridges.
This area is staffed on a rotating basis by the first
shift Computer Room staff.
