Authentication
Project Update - A memo from Dr. Hogue is going to be sent outlining the
objectives for achieving implementation of authentication for all users by the May
Session.
These 2 main objectives are to be accomplished by 3/31/01:
1) All network usernames must be inserted into the directory
2) All directory inconsistencies must be resolved.
Blackboard for Spring Semester - Instructors need to contact Nancy
Hart (or in CLA, Jacquelyn Cunningham) to have their course activated in Bb. Their
network username will also be verified so they will be able to access their course(s).
Open File Manager Software Installations - As previously announced,
the software is here and we need to begin installing it on all servers that are centrally
backed up by Computer Services. Network and Desktop Support is going to be
contacting the network managers of these servers to arrange the installation of the
software.
USC Home Page Technology Link -
As noted in this link, Tobias is working on a technology web page. Your
participation in helping him with the specific requirements of your college is greatly
appreciated. This will also be an ongoing topic for the WEBFOLK group.
SAN Equipment and Installation - Dell Consultants have were on site
the week of Dec. 4th installing a NT SAN for AIS and a NetWare SAN for GroupWise.
Now that the hardware is in place, the applications can be installed and moved to the new
equipment. Especially for GroupWise, this additional hardware will provide a more
stable and reliable system.
TCL Lab Lease Refresh Project - Dell has agreed to extend the date for
the pickup of the old equipment from the TCL Level 5 Lab until December 18th. The
new equipment will be put into place prior to the holiday break. They are replacing
