Below are notes sent to the NETMANAG list from Dean Pentcheff, Biological Sciences:

In the Network Managers' meeting today (7 December 2000) I asked for and
received a commitment from Stan Yarbrough (Director, University
Information Systems) to provide accountability information for projects
announced by Computer Services at Network Managers' meetings over the
past several months.  The projects are listed below.

For each project, I have requested public posting of:

1. The name of a person at Computer Services who is personally
responsible for the project's completion.
2. The target date for completion (or dates for major milestones, in the
case of multi-stage projects).

In many cases I suspect that projects have been announced, worked on,
and completed, but we simply haven't heard about it.  In some cases,
after an initial announcement or flurry of activity, projects have been
lost through attrition or a decision to direct efforts elsewhere.  I
hope that an open posting of accountability and progress will help those
of us outside CSD to better appreciate the completion of difficult
projects, and know where to direct encouragement for the completion of
projects that are important but seem to be getting lost.
