- Authentication Deadline is March 31st for tree cleanup. May 13th (May Session) all userids will be in the tree and all faculty, staff, and students will be able to get their network username and reset/change their password in VIP.
- SACS (recurring agenda item) the new date for the SACS team visit is April 2 through April 6. Troy Travis indicated that the team would shift the majority of its focus to IT.
- PC Shop RFP RFP went out in January and was expected to close on February 20. That date has been extended to March 5. Once the bid closes it is expected to take 4 to 6 weeks to have a vendor in place. The RFP does not include Macintosh support. Al Davis and Pierre DAutel will provide Macintosh support.
- Network Operation Center The project description is complete. Options being considered include replacing the IRIS ticket system and creating a consolidated Call Center. Feedback and suggestions from the NetManag group is requested.
- Network Managers Meeting Committee The formation of a committee consisting of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and Recorder was presented. The committee should be elected from the NetManag group. The Chair will be responsible for preparing the agenda and conducting the monthly Network Managers meeting. The Chair will also coordinate updates from subcommittees and facilitate vendor presentations. The Recorder will be responsible for taking meeting minutes and posting them to the web page. The Vice Chair will serve as a backup for both the Chair and the Recorder. Elizabeth has suggested a one-year term beginning in February and running through December. Since no meetings are held in January, elections could be held then from nominations received in December. Elizabeth has asked everyone to send nominations for these positions to her via email during the next month. Nominees will be notified and given the opportunity to accept or decline.

- Traffic analysis showed that Napster traffic constituted 43% of the Internet traffic going out of the University and 22% of the traffic coming into the University during a 48 hours period of analysis. The overall total of Napster traffic was 35%. This determination was made using the FlowScan program. FlowScan is a free package that captures and graphs information exported from a Cisco router running Netflow.
- Ronni Wilkerson explained the FlowScan program and also explained how data obtained from the program was used to determine the person/persons responsible for the DDOS attacks of February 26 and 27.
- More information and traffic analysis graphs can be found at:
Dan Gallagher addressed comments and questions from the February Network Managers meeting concerning load balance and the purchase of a second ISP. Dan showed a graphic of how to handle load balancing and discussed hardware specifics in brief. PROJECT UPDATESPresented by Rick Jordan
